In 1997, a small group of University of Central Florida students joined TransLife—their local organ and tissue donation and kidney transplant program—to launch Get Carded. Their goal was simple—to give the facts about organ and tissue donation to fellow students.

Student organizers rallied campus support through special events, news articles, presentations and ongoing promotions. Their concept took root. Get Carded grew to involve dozens of student organizations, faculty and alumni.
